MERCY LORD.👐
To love God; to be a true disciple of Jesus Christ will require a decision that will alter the direction of your life FOREVER. Decisions are sometimes DIFFICILT, but its usually the difficult decisions that lead you to destiny and a brighter future. Luke 14:25-28, 33 Amplified version says, Now huge crowds were going along with [Jesus], and He turned and said to them, If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his [own] father and mother [in the sense of indifference to or relative disregard for them on comparison with his attitude toward God] and [likewise] his wife and children and brothers and sisters-- [yes] and even his own life also-- he cannot be My disciple. ...So then, any of you who does not forsake (renounce, surrender claim to, give up, say good-bye to) all that he (or she) has cannot be My disciple. (Tears but no regret).
However, God never ask anything of us that He doesn't have in His power or strength or plan to restore. God is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly, far over and above all that we [dare] ask or think [infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes, or dreams] (Ephesians 3:20), but you have to fully rely on and trust Him. Sometimes the people, places and things God ask us to give up are not compatible or sound for where God is taking us. We may not grasp that right away and find ourselves fighting for the very thing God is asking us to surrender and give up. But thank God for those in your circle that can see it and be your eyes and help steer your heart in the way of God's purpose for your life.
Moreover, we have to trust that God is not a man that He should (ever) tell or act a lie, neither the son of man, that He should feel repentance or compunction [for what He has promised]. Has He said and shall He not do it? Or has He spoken and shall He not make it good? Tell yourself, God's going to do it again and this time around, God's going to make it ALL good. Whoo! Glory to God!
The Test of Loyalty
Sometimes, God ask for people, places and things that we have prized above Him, and He will ask us like He did Peter, "Do you love Me more than these (John 21:15-17). The test of loyalty will call to the red carpet your attitudes, your heart, your motives and even your failures, and command you to reflect, confess and totally surrender. God cannot send us out if we are overwhelmed with doubt, defeat, despair and disdain.
Yeap? That's right. Peter was internally battling all of this, and Jesus knew it. Jesus whole angle of conversation with Peter was not to publicly shame him in front of his peers and brothers, but to let him know that after a public fall and shame you can be publicly restored back to the call of leadership by one on one discipleship with the One who called you.
My God! Wow! I am full. 😭 TODAY GOD SAYS, YOU ARE WORTHY EVEN AFTER A FALL.
Sometimes our fall from the call is a result of our own doing and sometimes it's the result of another's wrong doing, but whatever the circumstance maybe GOD IS ABLE TO RESTORE YOU. Amen.
Desires
Peter had to be restored on account of his desires to defend himself. But if we want to be used of God, we have to die to even the desire to defend ourselves. That's why Jesus told him to pray. He knows the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. Whatever you do, do not retaliate.
Everyone's desires are different, but whatever it is, we have to be willing to tarry in prayer and practice discipline over the desire until it is subject to the Spirit of God and the Word of God. Desires aren't wrong, because the Bible would not have said that God will give us the desires of our heart. It's more on what we desire and how we desire it and why we desire it.
Desire is STRONG! But God is STRONGER! There are certain desires that make your heart race and everything within you stand at attention, but in that moment that's when we have to be quick to run to God or be overtaken by desire.
It's not that I myself don't have desires, because I do! Lord have mercy! But that which I desire, has to be brought to me God's way, and as tempting as it is to yield to desire, I am willing to wait, because I want desire to be a lifetime and not just a fleeting moment. When my desire is to please God first then desire becomes my destiny. Whoo... I am shouting right there!👣👣👣
When we love someone or something, they have our loyalty, and all our heart, we don't want to be the cause of them losing momentum in their purpose and destiny.
So we wait and remain loyal to God and to his timing, even if it means being uncomfortable for a season, rather it be a job, promotion, health venture, relationship or friendship, or a call to ministry.
